Creating content consistently can be exhausting, but you don’t always have to start from scratch. Today, I want to introduce the concept of repurposing your existing content.
This is basically when you take the content you already have, for example, a blog, and utilize it to create other content (a reel, a carousel, email, another blog etc.)
Ideas to Repurpose Content
Turn Long-Form Content into Bite-Sized Posts
If you have a blog post, webinar, or podcast, you can take it and break it into smaller, shareable pieces.
For example:
Blog Highlights: Share key points from the blog as a post, carousel, or Reel.
Webinar Takeaways: Create an infographic or quick video summarizing the main ideas Or you can take a small section of it and post it as a reel.
Podcast Snippets: Pull a compelling quote or soundbite to use as an Instagram Reel or TikTok.
Revive Your Best Performers
Look at your analytics to find your top-performing posts and recreate them. These posts already did well, so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel; instead, you can use them to create something else.
Change the format: Transform a carousel into a video or a thread into an Instagram caption.
Update for relevance: Add a fresh perspective or new stats to make it current.
Share again with a new design or caption.
→ One of my favorite ways to analyze content to repurpose is to see analytics of the last 90 days. This can show you what top content did well and you can utilize it to repurpose into something else.
Create Themed Series or Collections
If you’ve covered similar topics over time, you can bundle them into a themed series.
Compile tips into a “Top 5 Tips” carousel.
Create a weekly theme like #MondayMotivation featuring your quotes or advice.
Build a resource hub or a general blog mentioning all the specific blog posts you’ve done delving into each specific topic in that theme.
Repurpose Across Platforms
Each platform has a unique audience and vibe. Repurpose to match it!
Transform blog content into an email newsletter.
Use a LinkedIn article as inspiration for a Facebook post.
Use a carousel for single posts on FB or Pinterest.
Refresh, Don’t Repeat
Repurposing isn’t just copying and pasting. Try to find new angles that you can take with your content.
Add updated visuals to an old post.
Rewrite captions to align with current trends or challenges your audience faces.
Experiment with formats.
Final Thoughts
Repurposing is a smart way to amplify your message and keep your content alive. By revisiting your existing work, you’ll save energy while staying consistent and relevant.
Which content will you refresh first?
BONUS:
Guess how I’ll repurpose this blog?
I’m going to take it and make an IG carousel, FB post, and Pinterest pin on repurposing content effectively. If it does well in a couple of months, I’m going to take that carousel and/or this blog and make each of the ways mentioned its own post. If I feel like getting on the camera, I might take these tips and, later down the road, make it a reel ☺
